How many remember the 1969 8 day convention?

i was at the braves stadium in atlanta all 8 days with a sunburn and then wet clothes after the rain storms.
if you were there (not necessarily in atlanta) do you remember anything about it?

Why does being right = being arrogant?
by AlmostAtheist inwhat is it about a person's believing they are "right" that leads them to being arrogant?
you've surely noticed that the more sure a person is that he's right, the more likely he is to treat those that disagree with him with disrespect.
it's hard to see how a person can disagree with something that you know is right.

It was in L.A. at "Dodger Statium".......IT was "The Divine Enderance" convention......that was the name of "ALL" of the conventions that the JWs ever had.
I was 20 years old.
P.S. The very first drama was in 1967..........." The Ciy of Refuge" drama......that was at "The Divine Enderance" convention too.

Why do people choose to d'assoc by letter instead of just fading?
by journey-on ini simply gradually quit going.
of course, this was many years ago and maybe the "rules" have changed, but rather than create drama among my family, i just let them think i was becoming materialistic and spiritually weak.
at least it kept them talking and associating with me rather than cutting me off.

For me..........I made a public decoration of becoming a JW.......So since it was a public display going in........... I choose to make it a public display going out.............
I have no problem with faders.
Each person must decide what is best for them.

Most meet-ups are free. It is only the "hosts' who have to pay ($72 every 6 months} If you want to e-mail someone you have to join that group first.

Meet-ups are good.......I host the XJW meet-up for Portland. We don't talk about religion. My meet-up discription is "We are not here to beat dead horses, or sell you new ones"
Each group is different.
There are many other meet-ups in the area and it is a good way to meet other people. Even if you go just once and meet one cool person it is worth it.

Is this normal?
by FourMs inafter i came to terms with my decision to leave the org, i suddenly didnt want to anything to do with god.
its been several months and i still dont want to hear people talk about whether there is a god or not.
or when people say that they thank god for this and that.

I wouldn't through the "baby" out with the bath water. You problem might not be with God........but the Jehovah's Witnesses concept of god......a jealious mean hateful "Guy" who will soon be killing 6 billion people...........who knows maybe he/she is something different.
A Great book that talks about a different type of God is "Conversations with God" by Neale Walsh
